Hi All,
Sometimes we cast up some little gems, and Saturday afternoon's Kerran Mudgway Memorial Club Championships is up thither with the best.
As if the line wasn't enough (a pair of washed out areas on the cycle had competitors dismounting at those sections); we too had news offreshwater croc sightings (little ones), eau de decaying cane toad on the air and to close off . a doozie of a force to take plate in !
But the real excitement was caused by the women's field where the run was wide spread and the girls did struggle for podium places.Veteran Vicki Woodrow called on all her days of experience to reel in the younger brigade and hard it out to the finish.Vicki had to carry out a fast finishing Ryoko Jones who also came from behind but ran out of road in her hobby of the gallant Vicki. Shaye Hatty gave it everything to check on the pulpit for 3rd after cruising in 2nd for awhile. Rowie and Steph were up there & challenging at several stages and farther backwards in the pack Peta Jeggo and Karen Wilson went direct to pass all day and fittingly finished with a deadheat . great racing girls and wonderful to watch.
Our thanks to RD Jack Pennington and the outstanding team of volunteers who assisted with all aspects of this event. We truly value your efforts on behalf of the club. We still had a couple of guys from the Darwin Cycle Club helping out . thanks guys! And a special thank you to Brian Gallagher and Moira Wigley who provided water safe for both waves before starting their own races late.Much appreciate your efforts.
